Triangle Refugee Film Project
Donation protected
We are a volunteer team of Hillsborough NC area filmmakers working on a series of short films on newly arrived refugees in the local area. Our idea is that if people get to know their new neighbors it will help to kindle compassion and understanding. We are raising money to cover our expenses of shoot days - gas, equipment rental, feeding the crew and the refugee family so that they don't have to cook after reliving their worst moments... and also to create a scholarship fund for the families who are generous enough to share their stories with us.
Check out the first film in our series here.
Our second film, featuring two amazing ladies from the Democratic Republic of Congo is almost all shot, and will be going on to be edited soon.
We plan to make six films. They will be used for education (we are partnering with the Center for Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education of North Carolina to create common core curriculum so that the films can be used in high school classes around the country) and for advocacy (CWS, one of the largest refugee resettlement agencies in the Durham area plans on using short versions to lobby for refugees on the state and national level).
Thanks so much for all of your support.
