Treatment for Ron

The past 7 weeks have easily been the worst my family has yet endured. My father who has had Parkinson's disease for a little over 15 years was just diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Which is a type of rare cancer that attacks the blood and bones. This cancer does have a great survival rate but only with a certain drug called (Atra) , if this drug is not taken by the patient then it is extremely fatal. Thankfully at this very moment he is in remission, of course that only came at a price. It exasperated his Parkinson's symptoms to the point where he struggles to speak and is relearning how to walk again. As if that weren't enough, this shitty healthcare system we have is failing him entirely. The chemotherapy pill that he desperately needs to take for the foreseeable future has a co-pay of $1600 per month.  Insurance won't cover anymore of it, the manufacturer won't eat the remainder because there isn't any comparable competition and we do not have the financial means to acquire this medication on an ongoing basis. The hospital where he was receiving this treatment discharged him yesterday claiming that they could no longer justify keeping him admitted just to give him the medication that he needs. They were actually in such a hurry to do so that they ended up arranging a transport to a physical therapy facility that wasn't even equip to care for him in his current condition, resulting in us driving back to the facility just fifteen minutes after leaving to bring him back home with us where we obviously weren't prepared. We are dealing with a very unfair, very corrupt healthcare system in this country and the fact that not one medical professional can point us in a helpful direction to help preserve a mans life makes me sick. Their solution for the medication was to try going to Canada or make a 'Go fund me'. We have never been at such a loss and never thought the system could let us down in such a harsh and insensitive way. My sister and I definitely waited for this to be our very last resort because it just didn't feel like it could be a long term solution but here we are and at this point any and everything we can get together for our father is a thousand times better than the situation were currently in. So please, if you can sympathize with our situation we do ask that you make a donation and give this page a share and just lend us a little helping hand where we are in desperate need of one. Thank you so much in advance.
