Treatment for AMD Vision Loss
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Paula. I'm 63 years old. I have been diagnosed with advanced AMD (Macular Degeneration in both eyes.) I have no insurance and I'm not elligible for Medicare yet. For patients not covered by health insurance, treatment for macular degeneration typically costs about $9,000-$65,000, depending on which drug is used, for a two-year course of treatment with drugs injected into the eye to inhibit formation of and leakage from excess blood vessels. It typically costs up to $10,000 for two years of treatments with injection and photodynamic therapy, which works in a similar way.
They will require a large deposit at my first visit on February 8th. I don't know what else to do but ask for help.
I'm a caregiver to my 32 year old mentally handicapped daughter, Mandy. She means the world to me, and is the youngest of 6 amazing children and 14 grandchildren. My goal is to continue to be able to care for her as long as possible. Medical treatments to stop my aggressive vision loss is what I'm hoping and praying for. Thank you so much for your help!
