LIBERY COUNTY, TX- A 39-year-old man was exercising at the Cleveland High School football stadium off of Truman Street when he collapsed.

The man’s 10-year-old son and 13-year-old nephew were walking with him in the parking lot near the front entrance of the stadium when, suddenly, the young men paced further ahead of the man. The son looked backed and noticed his father was on the ground and appeared to be in distress. The two youngsters ran back to find it appeared the man had stopped breathing. The son quickly started CPR on his father.

A passerby called Cleveland PD dispatch reporting a man down on the ground off Truman near the high school football stadium. Cleveland PD immediately dispatched patrol officers and the Cleveland FD to the area. Upon arrival, officers found the man was not breathing and began assisting with CPR until firefighters arrived. They took over CPR and attempted other emergency medical life-saving measures. A Montgomery County EMT unit responded to the scene, and also attempted to revive the man, but was unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead on scene by Liberty County Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller.

Travis had just fixed our son and nephew’s skateboards and took them to try them out at the high school… he has a rare condition called, “Transposition of the Greater Arteries “.. He lost his job in March after 18 yrs which we lost our life insurance policies. We tried getting him life insurance but with his condition, we were rejected over and over.
Travis lived for his family. We are raising 2 of our grandkids, Jett who is almost 10 and Madi who is almost 6 who both attend Northside Elementary CISD.
His passing was unexpected and a shock to the family but we know he was happy because he was playing with Jett and his nephew Daemon Longoria.
At this time we do not have a service date. His father is in the hospital from having open heart surgery and it’s a delicate time for him. When he is stable, we will make arrangements.

Thank you all and please keep our family in your prayers.
