Friends and family, we are hesitant to ask for help, however we know we cannot make our dream of parenthood a reality without you. After several failed IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) procedures and heartbreak, our Reproductive Endocrinologist has recommended IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) as the next step of our infertility journey.
As I am sure most are aware, the cost for IVF is substantial, with insurance covering 0%. That is where your help is greatly needed. We cannot move forward with this step until funds are in place, as we need to pay for the IVF cycle when we begin that process. So, we are on hold until then. Though, we are hopeful that we will be able to move forward by March or April 2018.
This is extremely difficult to share publicly. Travis and I have tried for years to become parents with no success. We tried naturally for just over a year, though when we did not have success, we sought help from an infertility specialist. That process alone was difficult with numerous blood tests, ultrasounds, and painful procedures. When results from all those tests came back, we found the there was no obvious cause for our infertility; we fell into the lucky group of "undetermined infertility". No answers... no solutions... only 'let's try this and hopefully that will work'.
After our most recent IUI procedure failed, with slight success (if that even is a thing), our doctor felt we need to take this next step. I cannot begin to express how this journey has affected us emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. At times, I feel as though I cannot breathe, as if the weight of the world is on my chest. As of late, this has been a silent struggle; how do I share this without completely falling apart? I suppose that is why we are sharing this here, through words.
While there has been a tremendous amount of sadness, we have also been shown great mercy from our Savior. We know that He hears our hearts' hope and we would not be able to make it through without His love, comfort, and guidance. A scripture that has been a go to recently is Isaiah 40:29-31, "He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint". On those days where I am consumed with this journey and the emotional weight it brings, that helps me to just get through that day.
