I have been given an opportunity of a lifetime. I hope that with your help, I will be able to take advantage of it.
I belong to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Upper Valley. Our Partner church in Mukhap, India has invited us to join them for a very special 150th anniversary celebration and meeting of the northern Indian Unitarian congregations. Our partnership is one of mutual value. Our partners in India offer us an amazing opportunity to learn about their culture and beautiful land. We at the UUCUV support our partners by paying tuition for their children to go to high school and college. Our pilgrimage is intended to reinvigorate our partnership and strengthen the ties between our churches.
UUCUV will be helping with some of the cost of sending six of us and we will be doing lots of fundraising as well. However, I can't count on the congregation for the entire cost. Supporting myself and my daughter on one income and working for a nonprofit arts organization means that I don't have the ability to save this much money for travel. Most of the money that I hope to raise here will be to replace my salary since my vacation time is very limited. This is why I need your support.
