Travel and hotel expenses for Andrew

Donation protected
Andrew was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, a Craniopharyngioma on August 1, 2017. He underwent a craniotomy on August 8, 2017 to remove the tumor. Because of the location of the tumor, it has left him with much damage to his brain causing many medical conditions that will require lifelong treatment. He now lives without a Pituitary Gland and a nonfunctional Hypothalamus. He is on many medication’s and injections that keep him alive. Without them, he would die. Besides being completely steroid dependent, he also has Adrenal Insufficiency, PanHypoPituitarism, Diabetes Insipidus, Hypothyroidism, Growth Hormone deficient, Diabetes Mellitus type 2, Hypothalamic Obesity, severe sleep apnea along with many more medical, physical and psychological diagnosis that require extensive care and treatment. He has many specialists Oncologist, 2 Endocrinologist, Cardiologists, Pulmonologist, Psychologists, therapists, Neuro-Ophthalmologist, Neurosurgeon, and most recently added, Orthopedic Surgeon. We make many trips to Atlanta where he is treated at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Up until now, we have endured all of the travel expenses on our own but are now deeply in need of help. We just returned from a 3 day stay in Atlanta in which we had no choice but to stay in a hotel which is very expensive. We will be returning for more appointments on November 3ed - 7th. Due to the COVID Crisis, we are not allowed to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Aside from the upcoming appointments, Andrew will also be having two major leg surgeries to correct a condition called Blount’s Disease. This disease was brought on by the massive doses of steroids that he has been on to reduce brain swelling and continue’s on a daily regimen at least 3 times a day. The steroids have weakened his bones and having Hypothalamic Obesity has worsened the condition tremendously. We are looking at his having the first surgery the end of November or the first of December. We do not know what the future holds as far as recovery or how long we will be in Atlanta after surgery. I do not know what the situation will be with the Ronald McDonald House at that time and whether we would be able to stay or again, have to pay for hotel and food. We will have several more trips to make for surgical clearance appointments and pre-op before surgery can be done as Andrew is very high risk for anesthesia. We have another long road ahead of us with many uncertainties. I am not comfortable asking for help but I have no choice. I humbly ask for your support. Please keep Andrew and our family in your prayers. Thank you to those that can give and also to those that cannot.
