Al Bassir: School of the Blind and Deaf
As-salamu Alaikum and Ramadan Mubarak,
Last year, we managed to raise funds to almost £16,000 for Al Bassir: The School of the Deaf and Blind in Somalia. SubhanAllah, these funds have allowed for the children to have a significant amount of new beds, mattresses, along side desktop computers and more Braille resources.
I managed to visit the school, and hear some of the children's incredible stories and dreams, they also expressed their gratitude towards your kindness in donating and enabling their learning and boarding with the funds raised last Ramadan. Fortunately, after a meeting with the school board I was informed that the EU have also been involved in funding the school in moving the pupils to a larger boarding facility. This was absolutely necessary, as the school was limited to a 59 pupil capacity, with a waiting list of 297 children. Now, more children can attend one of the few schools catered to the blind and deaf in Somalia in a safer location.
Although the school have received some aid from the EU and raised funds from our last charity Alhamdulilah, they are still in need of more equipment sufficient for all ages as they are now going to accept many more students inshaaAllah. Furthermore, these funds could aid in providing part scholarships for students inshaaAllah. So, I kindly ask you in these last few days of Ramadan please donate and make these children’s future a better one.
Why give charity?
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’”

262. Those who spend their wealth in the Cause of Allaah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve”
