I am setting up this gofundme on behalf of my youngest brother. He is preparing for the last surgery he needs to complete his transition from female to male, but this last surgery requires permanent hair removal from the donor site as well as many post op supplies that just aren't covered. Being a student there isn't alot of extra money to cover these expenses. We appreciate any and all donations to help lessen the burden of these expenses. Here his what he had to say when I asked him to share how he knew and what this final surgery means to him.
I knew that something wasn't right with my body from a young age. I didn't know what transgender was but if I had known transition was an option earlier I wouldn't have had to spend years of my life feeling like things just didn't connect. When I was younger I asked Santa if I could be a boy for Christmas, even if it was just for one day. Thinking that after that one day I'd know I didn't actually want to be a boy and that my feelings were wrong. Santa didn't pull through for me though and I then went through puberty. It was rough. Going through the changes with that puberty that didn't feel right.
The best way I can describe gender dysphoria is like being trapped in a cage. Outside of the cage is a mirror with the way you know your body should look. With each step of my transition one of those metal bars disappears getting closer to becoming the person in that mirror. I've come a long way in my transition, to where I can almost get out of that cage and reach the mirror. The last bar that need to go is related to having bottom surgery. For the surgery to happen I have to have complete hair removal from the donor site.
There are times that I wish I was just born with the proper body parts that I wouldn't need these surgeries to feel free from the cage I've been trapped in. That isn't the case though, I do need these surgeries and am asking for your help to make this happen.
