Show Your Support For Nick!

17 year old Nicholas Faucher, woke up with a headache one morning and ended up in the fight for his life.  Never one to complain, or feel sorry for himself, he continues on to fight like a champ.  His current radiation treatments have delayed his enrollement for college until next spring.   Let's support Nick with a donation and allow him to concentrate on his health and studies at Suffolk.  Thank You for supporting Nick and God Bless!

Here is Nick's story best told by his mom............

My son Nick had a cold before February school vacation this year.  He went to school even though he felt horrible with symptoms of a sinus infection and a very bad headache. He woke up on that Friday and vomited because his head hurt so bad.   We went to the doctor and they sent him home with medication for a sinus infection. The next morning he woke up vomiting again so we went to the hospital and again were going to send us home with more sinus medication until I demanded a CT scan!

The doctor came in and told us she had bad news and they found a mass on his brain and we were transported by ambulance to Mass General Hospiital where a team of neurologists were waiting for us. Before the next day he had brain surgery to help drain the spinal fluid in his brain to release the tension cause by the non-germinomatous germ cell brain tumor they found. He was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma non germ cell tumor cancer. His vision has been affected by this. He sees double, which has gotten better since he started chemotheraphy.  He had 6 treatments of chemo which was very difficult on him. He finished his chemo  and was so strong through the whole process.

After undergoing blood transfusions, Nick made it to his graduation and was able to graduate high school with his class.  He was very excited to make it to graduation even as sick as he was.  He has had a very tough road for a 17 year old child and I could not be more proud of him.  He starts his radiation treatments on 07/26 for 6 more weeks.   Nick has stayed positive through the whole process and never complains about this happening to him.  He is an amazing person that is so thoughtful.   He got accepted to Suffolk University and wanted to start this September but the doctors said he will be exhausted from the radiation and may sleep 18 hours a day for a while, so he deferred college until January and is looking forward to going and living on campus.

His tumor has shrunk tremendously and the doctors are hoping for a full recovery but this will prevent him from getting a job as planned to help pay for college. Doctors said the first year will be very hard until his body recovers from treatment. He will get tired very easily so it is going be a struggle to keep his grades up.  Nick is not letting cancer stop his dreams and is very eager to move onto the next stage of his life.  He is looking forward to happier times and living his life. He understands how life can change in a moments notice. As a single mother I have struggled very hard keeping it all together and am very proud of Nick for the person he is. He has helped me be stonger just by seeing how strong he is.  He has held his head up high through this whole terrible ordeal and is still beautiful, even bald!
