Total Mankind Ministry Women's Warming Center
As the months grow colder, the Total Mankind Ministry Women's Warming Center becomes a safe haven for women who are homeless, do not have a proper place to spend the night, or a simply in need of a warm place to lay their heads. We are seeking your help to once again open our doors in time for the late Fall and Winter Seasons of 2021.
Located in the Newhallville neighborhood of New Haven, CT, our fully staffed Women’s Warming Center is typically open between the hours of 8:00 pm to 6:00 am the following day, and we strive to provide a safe, comfortable and warm environment for women. In addition to a warm place to sleep, guests are offered hot food, beverages, snacks, toiletries, gently used clothing, Case Management and medical attention. Originally opened November 22, 2019, to provide services for women until the city’s traditional center for men and women opened from January 3, 2020 to April 19, 2020. However, while providing services during that time, we came to understand that there was a desperate need to keep our doors open for the entire winter season. Many women who entered our facility have expressed that they do not feel safe at traditional centers that are open to both men and women.
With the help from generous donors, we were able to keep our doors open for the remainder of the 2019-2020 Winter season, and we were also able to open our doors once again for the Winter of 2020-2021. However, due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions as well as HVAC regulations, our present location is no longer suitable for housing the Warming Center. We are requesting donations in an effort to rent, lease or purchase a larger facility nearby where these restrictions will not be an issue. We ask that you please help us keep our center operational so that we can once again offer these much needed services and continue to be that safe haven that women so desperately need during some of the darkest times in their lives.
