Help Petal - Left for Dead on the Street

Tax deductible

We've started a Go Fund Me because so many people have reached out to say they'd like to help Petal. Here is the full story on the news: News Coverage .

On Saturday July 17th, 2021, Poodle and Pooch Rescue (PPR) (www.poodleandpoochrescue.org) received an emergency call from Orange County Animal Services (in Orlando, FL) to help with a dog that was near death. “Petal”, an older Poodle girl, was found in a plastic bag, with her mouth duct taped shut, hogtied with all of her paws taped together, her eyes were matted shut and she was emaciated, dehydrated and weak. No one knew if she would make it.

A good Samaritan found Petal in Orlando in the back of a retail plaza. She drove by a clear plastic bag with what looked like a small stuffed animal coming out of it, but as she took a closer look, she realized it was a real dog. She immediately stopped, jumped out of her car and ran to the dog to help. She was near a local business where she ran in and asked for scissors. She cut the tape from around her snout and asked for someone to grab water (by this time, there were several people coming out to see what was going on). She offered the little dog water and Petal started to drink. This dog was so weak and nearly dead, left on the hot pavement in the blazing sun taped up and inside of a bag - she was found just in time. She wouldn't have survived long in this condition.

Once notified, the local authorities reached out to us at PPR for immediate help. We had Petal transported to our vet partner and she is still there being watched around the clock. She was started on IV fluids, pain meds, IV antibiotics, liquid iron, and eye drops. She was so weak she was unable to stand on her own. She is on 4 times/day feedings and she’s been ravenous, but needs to be fed slowly in several feedings   so she doesn’t get sick. Every hour she has been improving but is still not out of the woods yet.

There is a cruelty investigation going on, but since there were no cameras in the area we are not confident the person who did this to her will be found and be held accountable for this unspeakable act. Poodle and Pooch Rescue is asking for the public’s help in any information that could lead to an arrest. We’ve set up an email box where people can send anonymous tips: [email redacted]

Petal is quite the little fighter and we’ll do everything we can to help her heal. A human tortured her and we want to show her that not all humans are bad. This is why we do what we do to save dogs in need in the Central Florida area.

Thank you for all of your support.

Poodle And Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3, non profit organization, our EIN# is 26-3448560. We are an organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the “leftovers” from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they’re older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their “last” day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they’re ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical location because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,200 dogs since 2008.
