Hi, I'm August. I'm an 18 year old transgender guy on a journey to becoming my authentic self.
I have been transitioning for over a year and finally have the opportunity to get top surgery. I'm scheduled to have my surgery September 29th.
I'm glad to say that I have a Mama Bear who is fully supportive. However, as a single mom that raised me without receiving financial help from other family members, she is unable to help me fund this surgery. I'm eligible for state insurance, but they will not cover transitional surgeries. My surgeon has talked with the insurance company, and they denied it. I don't have any other insurance options.
I have to raise the full amount for the surgery center to perform my surgery and despite all of our work I still don't have my full amount ready.
I am so thankful for the people who understand this is who I am and are willing to help me build the body that matches my identity.
