TONY\'S ROAD TO RECOVERY

I am raising money for...Tony Canady, a remarkable Brooklynite, who happens to be my brother. As a son, brother, friend, colleague, and mentor, he has worn many hats well. He was an active member at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he's better known as \"Uncle Tony\". His community dedication has taken him from Brooklyn, New York to South Africa. Tony has served diligently with his local community board, volunteered at a men's shelter, and cared for his mother while somehow, always managing to make it look easy. If someone needed help, he was always available.
The funds collected will go towards...my brother\'s treatment in various stages. On January 7, 2011, Tony suffered a massive pulmonary embolism. In a life saving effort, he received critical care at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, for nearly two months. He was transferred to Helen Hayes Hospital in Rockland County to begin the rehabilitation process. We have identified The International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF) at Meadowlands Hospital, a 501(c) 3 public charity designed for individuals who have suffered brain trauma. They offer the newest strategies and techniques for treating patients who have suffered catastrophic injury. While we remain optimistic about Tony's recovery, participation for this program is VERY, VERY expensive. Unfortunately, because his treatment is considered \"cutting edge\", insurance does not cover his medical care. The funds raised are for critical treatment to help the vigorous rehab process that his mind and body will require for him to fully regain his physical and mental capacities.
