Tom's Brain Cancer Support Fund

In January 2017, after experiencing numbness in his arms and legs and blacking out upon standing - Thomas went to see his doctor who ordered him and MRI. The results showed that he has a tumor on the left side of his brain. At that time, the neurologist wanted to watch the tumor and see if it grew. Thomas returned for another MRI this October after 9 months of waiting. On November 15th, Thomas’ 26th birthday, he received the news that the tumor had grown 30%. Due to the concern of the tumors rapid rate of growth it must be removed and then will be sent to the lab determine if it is malignant or benign.  December 22nd Thomas had a pre-op appointment to get ready for surgery.

Thomas and has one son - Mason (Age 7.5). Thomas went to school for Heating Ventilation Air-conditioning and Cooling (HVAC) and is a hard-working tradesman.  Thomas is a friendly, dependable man who would lend a helping hand to anyone in the community.

January 2nd 2018 Thomas had brain surgery at Sacred Heart Medical Center to remove a Tumor that was found to be brain cancer. The tumor was located near the part of the brain that controls vision and the ability to use the right side of the body. Over the following months Thomas completed a plan of treatment including chemotherapy and radiation, he completed the first treatment plan at the end of September.

October 19th 2018 Thomas got the results from an MRI that there is a new area of concern and that the plan of treatment did not work as well as everyone had hoped it would. He has been referred to UW and will continue chemotherapy. There are still a lot of unknowns at this point as he waits to meet with another doctor at UW and make a new plan for continued treatment.

January 27th 2019 Thomas' appointment at the UW showed the area of concern is scar tissue and at this time he is stable. He will have a long road ahead to recover from chemo and radiation. He has an acquired brain injury from surgery and is focused on healing his brain the best he can.
