Tommy Bolin’s Dreamers Launch Fund

To help the exciting new band, Tommy Bolin's Dreamers  get back to Colorado for a welcome home concert this spring and thus  propel the most exciting development in guitar god Tommy Bolin's musical legacy since his tragic passing in 1976

  Why now?  With the Colorado Music Hall of Fame planning to induct Tommy in a major concert event in Denver, late in the 2018 summer concert season, Johnnie Bolin and Michael Drumm (partners in the Tommy Bolin Archives) felt the time was right to launch an ongoing band to perform at the CMHOF 2018 induction/concert event, and also be a live performance touring band.

The basis for the band is to have most of the members be friends of Tommy's who played in one of his bands.

   As soon as Tommy and Peter Frampton bassman Stanley Sheldon was contacted about this idea, he emphatically claimed that he finally had heard a guitarist worthy of Sheldon’s Bolin pedigree. 24 year old Lawerence Kansas native Lucas Parker had blown Stanley’s mind with his profound talent and uncanny coincidental musical similarities to Tommy. This lead to a proof of concept concert perfomance with Stan in Lawernce in September. Johnnie Bolin and Michael Drumm went, and discovered that, indeed, Stan was correct. Finally someone could hold down the Tommy guitar chair and do it the way Tommy would have approved of. That equals true musical excitment.

    Which leads us to now, and this GOFUNDME campaign.  A lot of process, and traveling has led to the creation of TOMMY BOLIN'S DREAMERS. On December 7th, the band made its triumphant debut at Johnnie Bolin's annual December Tommy Bolin commemorative event in Sioux City to note his December1976 passing. 

  Now it gets interesting. The Dreamers have far exceeded any expectations and are a truly exciting and  relevant  band heading into 2018.  We have charterd a course that has us doing a "Return to Boulder" concert, conceptually through AEG Live Rocky Mountains, in late winter/early spring. We will  use that show to blow everybody's mind, including invited booking agents. Then, after securing the right booking agent,  the band will hit the road. Then In late summer, the CMHOF  Denver event has the potential to launch the Dreamers into orbit.  With the addition of Max Carl's dramatic arrangement of Jeff Cook's Tommy classic "Dreamer", and Jeff and Max sharing vocals, never before Tommy alumni pairings made for great music and created magical memories. Plan is this will be part of the CMHOF concert.

  This leads us to December 7th and the bands first ever performance at The Marquee in Sioux City. The crowd braved the 8 degree chill to see what the buzz was about. The stage is no stranger to many great guitarists playing Tommy’s music. But Lucas was unknown to the SC Bolin fans. How did it go? Johnnie Bolin, in his first show playing with Lucas and the Dreamers, said the previously unheard since 1976, “It felt like Tommy was there!”
Wow! That was the overall vibe with EVERYONE there. 

  Lucas brings Tommy’s music back to being alive, vibrant, current, and indeed, awe inspiring. The band has captured a 32 track digital audio recording and a four camera video shoot of it's first well rehearsed yet eopic show.

  This is where the world wide Bolin Community comes in! We need your help to "get the band" to Boulder, and have a small budget to cover incidental expenses to procure a booking agent. Then, very inexpensively, but greatly, mix. master and release music to create merch for our touring. Then  edit the four camera video into video singles for sale and social media promo! We will be making available what the guys feel was “the best” from that night.
