Tommy and Julie Courtney Relief Fund

Hello from the Greenwells. We are asking for assistance in helping some dear friends of ours, Tommy and Julie Courtney. For those who may not know them, they are the owners of Courtney's Seafood in Ridge, MD. That's Tommy in the above picture with Clare Greenwell. Courtney's is an old-school operation with Tommy catching everything that Julie cooks. Tommy also supplies many of the local crabbers and fishermen with bait for their pots or lines. Tommy and Julie have deep roots in our area and help anyone that ever needs it.

To the issue at hand... Tommy has become very ill. He is confined to a bed most of the time and has great difficulty moving or walking. As anyone who knows Tommy can attest, he keeps a very close circle when it comes to his personal business, so we will leave it at that for now.

Due to his illness, the restaurant and bait operations have ceased. With these businesses being closed for almost a month now, you can imagine the financial hardships Tommy and Julie are dealing with. Their daughter has been forced to quit her job and move from outside the County to provide care for Tommy. This also creates a lot of hardships for her as well.

Without a bit of support from the community, we (and their daughter) fear that it may be impossible (or, at best, tough) for the business to recover. After speaking with their daughter, we also request that this fundraising project not be mentioned to Tommy or Julie as they are often reluctant to ask for help and pride themselves in being independent, resilient and resourceful.
