Tommy Pinnock -two heart attacks at 26

Hi, my name is Ryan and I am fundraising for a very close friend of mine, Tom Pinnock.

Tom has suffered with diabetes since a young age and on Sunday 17th October 2021, Tom was unwell with sickness and chest pains which he thought was only a panic attack.

By Monday 18th his blood sugar levels were sky high and he had ketones in his urine which resulted in him calling an ambulance. The paramedics carried out an ECG at home which showed he had a heart attack on the Sunday.

Due to it being over 24 hours since the heart attack and getting any medical attention, resulted in Tom losing 60% of his heart muscles.

He was in hospital being treated until Saturday having numerous daily tests as the doctors didn’t understand what had caused the heart attack. He was then discharged on Saturday but was taken back into hospital on the Sunday with another suspected heart attack.

Luckily he did return as the heart consultant said if he’d been left untreated then it could have resulted in death.

As well as the heart attacks, he suffered a chest infection and fluid on the lungs due to one of his arteries closing off.

On Monday 1st November, Tom will be undergoing surgery to have a ICD (defibrillator) fitted and then hopefully on his way home for recovery.

Unfortunately the doctors have confirmed this will not be a long term fix as he will need further surgery in the future.

Due to Tom’s job being very stressful he won’t be able to go back to this and will need to find a different job once he has fully rested and recovered.

Tom has a fiancé and young baby girl and we want to ease the stress as much as we can for him.
