Tom McKee's Stroke Rehab

This site has been set up by Tom McKee's daughters, Ivy and Freesia. The funds will be used to buy items that will aid Tom's healing journey and comfort, such as, but limited to:

Thomas McKee had an Ischemic Stroke at the end of October and has begun his journey towards recovery. If you know Tom, you know he is curious, resourceful, dedicated, and funny. These qualities, and support from his community, are going to aid his recovery. Tom is aware he has had a stroke and is actively engaged in his own recovery. We are feeling optimistic. He is able to hold a conversation in a stroke-affected way, walk with assistance, write words, and has maintained his curious spirit. He is also experiencing disorientation and confusion; relearning dates, numbers, and writing skills; and practicing the sequencing of daily tasks. Elements of his vision, visual recognition, and reading have been affected.

Since he was released from the hospital, Tom has been very interested in listening to and talking about music, drawing, practicing dates and numbers, and perusing books and newspapers to relearn vision and reading skills. He is still interested in talking and sharing facts about any subject!

His brain is relearning how to complete a range of skills.
