Together we can help Kristy

Kristy has a heart of gold that would help anyone before herself, whether it be one of her 7 children, her family or one of the many sporting teams or schools that the children attend.
Kristy thought she had the flu, but after getting ambulanced to Campbelltown hospital during the early hours of August the 8th, we found out that she was not just sick with the flu, she also had pneumonia, group A strep, unknown bacteria that was destroying her lungs and sepsis. If her husband had not called an ambulance that night she would not have been with us the next morning. She was then placed into a medical coma and placed on a respirator as her tiny body could not start this fight on its own.
Kristy was air flighted to Liverpool ICU on friday 11th August, we are now at day 40 of her fight and in this time she has endured 10 days of an ecmo (extrecorporeal membrane oxygenation) machine that gave her lungs a rest and regulated her blood temp as she was fighting 39 degree body temp, then she was placed on dialysis to help to remove to blood poisoning.
She has had drains put in to help with holes in her lungs and as a precaution for abcesses in her lungs in case they burst.
She has missed kids birthdays and had her 41st Birthday during this period, all of which she does not realise.
At present, she has been bought out of her coma, it is a very slow process to get her of the respirator and every day is small steps. Just moving a new part of her body everyday is a huge step forward for Kristy and her amazing family. She still is not talking and has a trachea.
With the great care she is receiving we are hoping that
the future holds a few more weeks in ICU, followed by months in hospital for rehabilitation, not to mention operations to remove scarring from her lungs.
We still do not know the long term outcome for Kristy and the assistance she will require once we finally get her home. We all look forward to the day we hear her voice again.
Kristy's children with help from their Grandparents are keeping their daily schedules and routines. Paul has had a bedside position for the last 40 days with the kids regularly visiting.
I am the lucky sister-in-law of Kristy and I would like to ask that no matter how small you could help a family in need that has the weight of the world on their shoulders, the fight of their life time to overcome to help the only way we can to remove some of the financial burden that this has placed on this beautiful family.
Keep fighting beautiful lady.
