As we all know, life can change unexpectedly. One of our own Roxbury families has recently come to know this, all too well. Tara Berdej and her husband Bo have been residents of Roxbury for 30 years. They along with daughter Alexx (18) whose a graduating senior, and grandson Kevin Jr. (7), enjoy a lot of their family time at Alexx's lacrosse games or Kevin's baseball games.
Approximately two weeks ago, Tara seeked medical attention for unrelieved pain in her foot that was getting worse. Subsequently, she had developed an infection which had quickly become septic, with high risk of a life threatening outcome.
Fortunately, the doctors diagnosed and treated it on time and saved her life, but unfortunately this infection required an amputation of her foot.
Going forward, the family will need help with offsetting the cost of medical bills, as well as providing for physical therapy and specialized equipment after her hospitalization. Our community always prides itself in rallying for our own that are in need.
Together for Tara is our way of letting the family know that we care, and will help our neighbor and family. Together we can!
