Little Mahli has cancer.
On the 16th of April, doctors brought Tom and Elle the horrible news that the Neuroblastoma (cancer) that little Mahli had been diagnosed with the previous month was unexpectantly aggressive and had spread from her adrenal glands to her liver. The results from numerous tests place her in a high-risk category and have immediately triggered the need for 12 to 18 months of intensive chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and bone marrow transplants.
Tom and Elle are heartbroken for the burden placed upon the beautiful life of their baby girl.
From the 17th of April, Mahli begins a journey of recovery! Her Mum, Dad, big brother (Harper), big sister (Belle), aunts, uncles, Nanni, Pop, Mama, Papa, cousins, and friends beyond count are all gathering together in faith and action to help Mahli and her family win this battle.
We welcome you to join us!
Tom and Elle have friends across Australia, England, and beyond, and many of them are asking how they can help. This campaign is a simple way we can all contribute funds to Tom and Elle. They are fortunate to live in a country with strong public health services and are already receiving incredible medical care and support. Nevertheless, this kind of journey will introduce many other financial, emotional, and physical burdens on them all. For instance, Tom is a contract worker and the hours he will have available for work will be reduced because of Mahli's treatment program. The financial cost of travel, accommodation, and general life disruption in making trips to Brisbane every other week will also be felt. The funds generated through this campaign will go directly to Tom and Elle and will help support them and their family.
If you desire and are able to support them in other ways, we more than encourage you to do so. However, in light of the reality of COVID-19 and general limitations (like distance), we know that some friends are simply willing to contribute money.
