Toby's Knee Caps Surgeries Fund

Donation protected

On Tuesday night, November 21, 2017, my 2 yr old dog Toby, whom my mom and I rescued, we noticed that he couldn’t move his back legs when I placed him on my bed. I carefully tried to pick him up, but he right away tried to bite my hand when I came close to his back legs.  I grabbed a couple of his favorite toys, thinking he would try to come to me like he usually does, but this time he didn’t. He did the same thing with my mom. So I decided to call our old veterinarian Dr. Shoolman (who I trusted and used to go to all the time with our dogs before we moved) and left him a message saying we were going in the morning when they opened at 7am.  We decided to do this because there was no way we would be able to afford in taking Toby to the emergency room. That night, Toby slept with me on my bed and was woken up a few times by his random whimpers; but as soon as I would caress his face, he would go back to sleep.

Wednesday, November 22nd, the whole drive from Colton, CA to Irvine (which took us an hour and a half to get there) Toby would whimper in my arms. We finally got to Camino Pet Hospital and were seen right away. Dr. Shoolman checked him and he noticed immediately that his back legs didn’t look normal and that they felt weak. He then took him to get his X-rays done and when he came back, he showed us on the X-rays that his knee caps on both of his legs, were out of place.  (The pictures of the X-rays are attached down below) The yellow arrows shows where the knee caps are supposed to be and the red arrow shows where his knee caps are currently located, which are dislocated  on the side.

Dr. Shoolman said that the reason they're out of place is due to when my neighbors had Toby chained outside everyday. By him being chained up in the angle they had him, he was stuck being in a position that he was only allowed to, and since he was still a growing puppy at that time, that's why his Legs didn't developed right.

So all this time, he was in discomfort and that's why he can't walk normal, can't jump on the couch or on my bed.

Toby was given inflammatory meds for now to help with the pain temporarily. But Dr. Shoolman said that he's going to need surgery on both legs so they can place the knee caps where they belong.
The surgeries will cost $2,500.00 per leg (so total of $5,000.00) which we DON'T have and can’t afford unfortunately.

Please, Family and Friends, if it’s in your hearts, please help us raise the money for the Surgeries that Toby needs to stop this pain that he has been in.

Toby went through a lot before we rescued him. He was starved, left outside in the cold and rain while chained up. (You can see the pictures attached on the bottom to see how my neighbors had Toby before we Rescued him )

Please, help us help Toby be pain free.
