The Cancer Came Back!

Hello let me introduce myself, my name is Toby Berube... I am a 29 year old United States Army Veteran and dad to two amazing little boys Blake and Greyson. In 2015 after serving six years in the army and returning home  from Afghanistan I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I underwent surgery and chemotherapy and was told things were looking good. I signed up for college to study physical therapy to work with fellow veterans and started living life.

Fast forward two years to 2017. I started having a lot of stomach pain and  figured it was kidney stones. I could hardly eat and was in terrible pain. I went to the hospital where they did a scan and told me I had a softball size tumor in my back. The cancer was back. Not only did I have the tumor on my back  it had spread to my chest and neck. A biopsy determined it is stage 3 and I would need to immediately begin a very aggressive treatment of chemotherapy to survive.

Things started to spiral downwards for me. I was forced to stop working and going to school to treat the cancer. There were times I was sure I was going to die and more times than I care to talk about that the pain was so great I wish I would. Not only is the pain unbearable but  I am not able to pay my bills due to the increasing costs of medical care and not being able to work. My car was repossessed limiting my ability to get to and from my doctor appointments. I have struggled to maintain my apartment and have been forced to sell a lot of my belongings to be able to pay my rent. The VA disability does not provide enough money to live on and undergo the medical treatment I need to beat this.

Everyone has been touched by cancer to some degree, and even as my  family has experienced the ever-intrusive grip of this disease before, here it invades again.  As it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to fight cancer.  My family and I can use any and all support as we once again embark on this long, difficult journey. Donations will afford me the best possible medical treatment, as well as relief in the stress of basic living necessities.

I am a fighter. My boys need their dad. I am going to beat cancer for the second time but I need your help.  If you can not afford to donate, I ask that you please share.

Thank you!!!!!!
