Hey, so I'm working on this album, and it's gonna be like, this great, super cool album thing and you're gonna love it - it's gonna be great. Really.
I'm inspired by devotional and traditional musics from around the world and I really believe in the power of devotion to touch people and to open hearts and souls.
I also believe in the power of foolishness, and allowing the surreal and the nonsensical into the sacred moments of our lives. My music draws on these aspects, paying homage to the divine image of the universe in its myriad forms, with the subtlety of joy and surrender to the ageless wisdom of the inner child.
Imagine if Dali had painted Canada in the depths of Winter. Fir trees melting into the landscape, maple syrup running down your hand and you want to lick it off so you do. Pleasure at your fingertips and you allowing yourself to sink into it.
It's gonna be really sparse in places, really lush, open, expansiveness - like footsteps on arctic snow, like the colour of breath on frosted glass. At other times it might get a bit rugged, needles in your neck, sharpness and tremors seducing you back into stillness.
I've got lots of great people to help me, some wonderful musicians and some real tech savvy wizards who know all about the recording/computery side of things. I'd love to pay them with real money rather than just love, gratitude and copious amounts of redbush tea.
With the donations received from crowdfunding, I can pay them for their time, as well as promoting and distributing the album in physical and digital formats.
Hopefully your ears and hearts will also benefit from the sharing of this magical adventure.
