Toast's Eye Surgery
Hi friends,
Toast is now 9 weeks old! When she came to live with me, she was only 5 weeks! (How has it been a month already?!)
Toast needs eye surgery and I need help coming up with the $1500 balance (out of $3,000). You all know that I am a budgeter. And, even with my best efforts there is no way that I can pay the expected total by the time her surgery should happen. Her ophthalmologist identified Toast having a "herpesvirus infection" in both of her eyes. As you may notice in her picture, it is much more severe in her left eye than her right one.
We have already given her all the other care she needs in addition to medication to help alleviate her cold, and were thankfully able to open her left eye and give her 50% vision in it. From what the doctor explained to me, the Herpes virus has caused her body to go into overdrive and work hard to fight the infection - this led to her eyelids merging together as a fighting mechanism, which makes it nearly impossible for us to open and even with them numbing it, no luck to open her eye to further investigate what is going on inside. Because of this, Toast will be needing eye surgery (this was on 10/12/2020).
Today, 10/20/2020 they told me that we would possibly have to move her surgery up from mid-December to sometime in the next few weeks. Please know, that if you are donating it will be going towards Toast's: ophthalmic surgery, medication, hospital setup, anesthesia, fluids, pain management medication, and lens replacement.
We are hoping for the best, but they did warn us that it is extremely risky because of how tiny she is and how underdeveloped her organs are. Any donations would be deeply appreciated - also, if you feel inclined, please re-share this on your social medias... I would be mega grateful. I will keep you posted with her surgery and how Toast's eyes come out.
