To Studying Abroad in Rome

Donation protected
Hello to everyone who has decided to click the link in order to view my campaign! In advance, thank you for your time, patience and interest.

My name is Tanora Sanders, and I'm studying Journalism and Mass Communications at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I'm an aspiring lifestyle and entertainment content creator and copywriter. If you live within the Triad (Greensboro, High Point, Winston Salem), my name may sound familiar as I am a radio personality for my institution's radio station--WNAA 90.1FM. I've also made contributions to other organizational outlets on campus such as The A&T Register, Triad Perspectives, Aggie FanFest, etc.

This upcoming fall I have been granted an amazing opportunity to both study and intern abroad in Rome, Italy! This will be my first experience leaving the country, let alone boarding a plane. Despite initial financial disadvantages, I was already aware of how much a luxury it is to study abroad. So, every week I've committed myself to working 56+ hours at my employer. Unfortunately, I still have fallen short and don't have the sufficient funds in order to afford my trip. I've submitted a Deferral Form to my program in hopes that I will be able to raise enough money before my departure.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I have chosen to study abroad in Italy because I've encountered and interacted with a considerable number of Italian-Americans. I have always taken a liking to their culture and acknowledge the exceptional contributions they have given to our society (food, music, general authenticity). As a result, I relish to tour the country that has held my infatuation since an impressionable child! Being exposed to lifestyle, travel, and entertainment also played a influential role in my decision to study abroad (as well my major). Whether I was closely observing Giada De Laurentiis speak with a thick Italian accent about the origin of her favorite comfort dish, or watching Italy Revealed during Discovery Atlas, I knew that countries outside of my own are tangible. They can be reached, touched, and carry their own distinguished fragrance that I want to smell! And, I don't want money to be a barrier. I desire the privilege to immerse myself into Italy's communities and recognize the differences in the way its society is managed.

As a first generation college student and therefore the first in my family to take the initiative to study abroad, I'm looking forward to meeting students with a variety of backgrounds that are also attracted to the idea of broadening and advancing their higher learning at a foreign institution! I desire to become apart of the growing percentage of African American students who study abroad, which is considerably low (6.1%). I will appreciate all efforts to help me pay my billed fees. If you happen to be a helping hand, thank you for allowing me to continue to build the foundation to a brighter and more proactive future.

With Aggie Pride!
