Toreh Jackson's Jammin' Journey

When Toreh was little I had my doubts that she would ever leave the safety of my lap, much less the house and her family. Even when she did go to daycare she would pick out the most loving, warm and compassionate teacher and plant herself in that person's lap for the entire day. I would not have described her as adventurous. She did, however, have a love for world history and art and knew more about the larger world at 10 years of age than I had learned in 45 years. 
Then, at about age 12, she blossomed. She went to the Santa Fe Girls school and made good friends with young ladies that she is still friends with to this day and she became vocal, strong and outgoing. Moreover, she joined the SEEEDS program at Pomegranate studios and completely transformed into a strong, beautiful performer. She was exposed to music, dance and art from different cultures and that continued to peak her interest in history. For the first time in her life, Toreh expressed the want to travel and see the world. 
So, the opportunity has come for her to see a small section of the rest of the world. There is a teacher at Santa Fe High School, Christopher Eadie and his wife and son, that will take a small group of students on a trip to Italy, Greece and Tunisia (provided the poitical climate stays conducive). Only a small number of students are selected to go on this trip and Toreh has merited the opportunity based on an essay she wrote. The total cost of the trip is about $4800.00 and we have already paid $300.00. We need to raise another $1500.00 by January and the remainder of the cost, $3000.00, by April 2, 2018. The total amount covers travel, lodging, food and activities. 
The trip is three weeks long and Mr. Eadie has promised that the students will not be tourists but will eat in local places, study the languages and do activities that help them get to know the people of that area of the world. This is truly a "once in a lifetime" opportunity and is an experience I know Toreh will never forget.

Any amount of money is welcome because every dollar will add up to a gift of education for a truly special young woman that will last a lifetime.
