A project to raise funds to purchase a community Defibrillator for the area where Tralee Boxing Club is located. 'Some items on the list are a defibrillator, first aid training and instruction on how to use the equipment we purchase.''

PUT THE DATE IN YOUR DIARY ******5th Nov***** Come and visit us at Manor West (outside Tesco) for our event and see Shamey put himself to the test while he spins for 10 hours straight to raise funds.

We think this is very important to have this facility. Tralee Boxing club has been a part of the Tralee community for as long as anyone can remember; founded in 1936, the club has always had an excellent reputation. Many children and adults have availed of the club for training and boxing for over 85 years, and the people of Tralee and surrounding areas have outstanding support for the club.
To make our club even better, we aim to buy life-saving equipment. Some items on the list are a defibrillator, training on first aid, and instruction on how to use the equipment we purchase. We think this is very important to have this facility.
One of our coaches Shamey will participate in a challenge on November 5th from 9 am to 7 pm in Tralee in Manor West. He will spin on his bike for 10 hours continuously to raise money for our equipment
Shamey is one of our hard-working coaches at Tralee Boxing club, and not only does he volunteer his time several times a week to train the Boxing classes, but he also cycles hundreds of kms each week, some cycles 150 km each. He has been with the Boxing club since the age of 11 and has always been involved in some aspect of club life.
Shamey has also raised funds for another charity, amassing nearly 48,000 euros over the years. He had the idea to cycle for 10 hours to fundraise for this life-saving equipment, and he feels it's essential to be able to protect the people at the club from harm.

As a part of this fundraiser, we are going to give 20% of the monies received to two different charities. The Irish Heart Foundation AND Banna Rescue. Both these causes are very worthy.
We are also going to enter everyone who donates into a draw, for some very generous prizes that we have been donated

UPDATE ******The Cycle
Shamey is already in training; he is currently cycling five days a week for the event and will clock up thousands of km to get ready. He has been supported by his 8 year old granddaughter Amelia and our very own county footballers David and Paudie Clifford.

Amelia has been supporting her grandad, by spinning on her own bike along with him during practice sessions. She popped into the club yesterday to show us all how its done. She also donated 100 euro of her pocket money to the fundraiser.

*********Less than two weeks to go ******
Tralee Boxing Club will stand with Shamey as he spins for 10 hours straight from 9 am to 7 pm. We will be set up inside by the entrance to Tesco in Manor west.
Come along on the day to support our event, and we would be very grateful if you could also donate. You'll not only be supporting the local community but also, some of your donations will support other worthy causes.
