For the Benefit of the Burruss-Bigaud Brothers

Donation protected
On Monday, June 8, 2020 the life of Shamari Burruss-Bigaud and his younger brother were forever changed.  The Burruss-Bigaud family was ravaged by a heinous crime that ended the life of one of their most cherished family members: Quanisha Burruss, mother to the two beautful boys aforementioned.

It is always difficult for those left behind, and, respectively, that is Shamari and his younger brother.  Both brothers will be in need of assistance for a long time to come, and this can only occur when a community comese together for the greater good. The purpose of this Go Fund Me is to raise needed funds for the immediate and long-term care needs of the two boys who will be guided by the helping hands of their remaining family.  The preliminary amount to assist these boys has been set at $50,000, but of course if you consider longer-term expenses for education alone, this is really just a beginning. If in excess of $50,000 is raised, anything over that threshold, of course, will be presented to the family. In this case,  funds will be allocated to the appointed legal guardian as recognized by the State of Connecticut only when this is verified and confirmed. This is to insure the monies are properly managed. Please consider the circumstances surrounding this tragedy and give knowing the help you offer, regardless of amount, will keep a memory alive as well as the hopes and dreams of two brothers.

As the organizer of this fundraising effort, I have had the privilege to be a teacher to Shamari at Middletown High School since Fall 2018. Teaching is not only what we do in the classroom but also how we support and care for our students after the last bell of the day rings. Teaching is about building relationships that last longer than one school year. The memories we make with our students and the lessons we teach them extend far beyond the walls of a classroom. They very often last a lifetime.

I can personally assure you that you are supporting a bright and hopeful future.

***A PRAYER VIGIL WILL BE HELD THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2020 at 5:00 P.M. at Harbor Park in Middletown. The wearing of masks is highly encouraged and please practice all social distancing measures. This will be a PEACEFUL and NON-VIOLENT vigil. Anything else will simply not be tolerated.***
