Oxygen Concentrators for India

Hi,

Thank you for visiting our fundraiser page. My name is Dr. Mashhood Ayaz. I am a consultant paediatrician working in London. Together with my wife, Dr. Touqueer Fatima, my friends Dr. Nadeem Maddekar, Dr. Shaheer Aasim and Dr. Sanaullah Sheik, I am raising funds for the purchase of oxygen concentrators to be sent to our hometown, Mysore in India. We are keen to help and support our local community to deal with the unprecedented crisis. We are aware that a lot of help and support is being generated but most of it gets diverted to the bigger cities. 

As you are all aware the COVID-19 situation in India is dire. The health infrastructure has collapsed and there is widespread chaos and death at an unprecedented level. It is unimaginable that people are dying due to a lack of Oxygen in hospitals. Oxygen is in such short supply that a number of hospitals are running on a day-to-day basis. There is a sense of helplessness among doctors who are scrambling to save lives. Just today there is news that 24 patients died due to lack of Oxygen in the hospital where my sister is a final year medical student. She reports the reality on the ground is much worse.

The government is unable to provide enough Oxygen to deal with the crisis and is prioritising and rationing supplies. We hope to be able to raise funds to supply Oxygen concentrators that will help save hundreds of lives.

We appeal to everyone in this hour of a humanitarian crisis to donate generously and save lives.

We are collaborating with charities in Mysore that are working tirelessly with limited resources. The Ibne Seena Charitable Trust is one such organisation that is providing financial and material help for patients and families. They have linked up with local hospitals to facilitate their admission and treatment at a time when beds are at a premium. They have set up makeshift hospitals but are struggling to provide necessary care due to the severe oxygen shortage. 

Your valuable donations will be used to source Oxygen concentrators (from the UK and other parts of the world if required), ship them and distribute them among those that are in need. No money will be transferred to India. We will ensure that 100% of your donation is utilised to help those in need and to alleviate suffering.
