Oscars Medical Fund

Meet Oscar, Lilly and baby Romeo! This sweet family has been hit by very hard times and are in need of our help!
Approximately 5 months ago, Oscar started having difficulty using his hands. After months of tests and doctors’ visits he was finally diagnosed with a large tumor in his spine. He was quickly taken to surgery where doctors worked for 16 hours to remove the tumor which turned out to be larger than originally anticipated. The pathology showed an Ependymoma that extended from the base of his skull to the middle of his back and took 45 staples to close. Oscar was kept in a medically induced coma for the next 24 hours to let his body rest and recover after such an extensive surgery. Upon waking he was virtually paralyzed from the chest down. He spent 6 days in the ICU slowly regaining enough strength to be transferred to outpatient rehab where he spent another 2.5 weeks. He is currently home however his road to recovery is still a long one. He will need radiation which is anticipated to start within the next few weeks.

Both Oscar and Lilly have completely exhausted their paid time off and sick leave. Oscar is obviously unable work at this time which leaves Lily as the sole provider for their family. She is working full time as a medical assistant but the bills continue to mount daily.

Due to insufficient financial funds to pay for fulltime childcare Lily and Oscar were forced to make the difficult decision to take their 8-month-old son to Mexico where Lily's mother and mother-in-law could care for Romeo full time. As any mother can imagine, this decision was completely heart wrenching.

Donations will first be used to bring Romeo home. We hope to make enough to pay for a few months of full time daycare while they wait for Oscar's mother’s visa to be approved. Any excess will be used for groceries, gas, rent, and other expenses that come down the line.

thank you SO much in advance for any help you can provide!
