Tirunelveli Education Project

We are the University of Michigan chapter of Project RISHI, a national non-profit organization aimed at supporting the sustainable growth and development of rural Indian communities. Over the past two years, we have helped facilitate the successful implementation of sanitation facilities for women and children in Seithur, Tamil Nadu.

Our next project aims to help 8th-10th grade children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds attain better education in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The selected kids are a part of a pilot program that allows them to live in a "Residential Training Center" -- a facility that houses, feeds, and transports these kids to their respective schools.
