Back in November 2017 my beautiful friend Tina was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was not the news you want to get just after your 50th birthday !
Tina, who has worked at Brisbane Waters Private Hospital for over the past 25 years and dedicated her life to the caring and looking after of many, many others needs our help now.
As Tina is a Registered Nurse, her doctors have stated that she cannot work in a hospital environment due to her decreased immune system and major vulnerability to germs & infections, and therefore she cannot work for the next six months of the inital treatment program and a few months beyond that, recovering, and now she has no other form of significant income. She has used up all her leave and is unfortunately unable to access any of her superannuation. The major treatment/medication costs are covered but there is alot of tests and re-testing on weekly basis, travelling to & fro and so on.
My purpose here with this page is that I would like to raise enough money for Tina to just allieviate that financial stress about where she will get money for her scans/tests/fuel etc etc or household bills that just never go away, and I am hoping this will give her one less thing to worry about as she is going through the whole chemo/radiation process, first monthly and from February the treatments will be weekly. I cannot stress enough, how much any assistance, will be so greatly appreciated and go towards making Tina's Cancer Journey that little bit easier.
As mentioned Tina is currently undergoing chemotherapy for 6 months along with a new clinical trial, in trying to shrink the tumor first and then down the track, hopefully miminally invasive surgery.
I/We will be putting up weekly updates here on how Tina is progressing and also on Facebook so we can be connecting with all of you.
