Help Keep Tim and Charlie Laughing

Please send my husband Tim, and Charlie, Tim’s Laughter Therapy Dog, any love, prayers, kind words, smiles, laughter and any financial help you can spare. Tim faces a very high- risk brain tumor operation November 14, to save his life and future.

Tim was always a strong energetic person willing to help everyone with any task or problem they had.  He ran marathons and charity races, he biked, camped and kayaked. He planted and cared for huge gardens of flowers and vegetables, he walked our dog for miles. He volunteered to help clean up our neighborhood parks, and save our park ash trees.  Tim has worked in the dietary department of St Mary’s Hospital for 36 years. Last summer was supposed to be our dream vacation; We planned to finally see the Grand Canyon. But Tim has been unable to take any vacation for over three years.
Tim is always the person who makes you laugh whether you are family, friend or someone he just met. His store of funny comments and crazy growing up stories is endless. If you know Tim I’m sure you could share a few here!

Last fall he was diagnosed with a malignant extremely rare type of brain tumor, (Cerebellar Pilocytic Astrocytoma). Studies on this type of tumor in adults don’t exist, there are not enough patients in the country for a study. Amazing skilled surgeons and the wonderful love, prayers, and support from family and friends saved his life. He recovered back to his old self, going back to work six months later in April.

But something was missing. This is where Charlie saved the day. Charlie’s owner died and he was to be put down despite his energy and perfect health. A compassionate, caring Vet Tech rescued him but was unable to keep him. She gave Charlie to us for a forever home.

That night Charlie made Tim laugh more than he had in 6 months. The amazing light that is my husband was back. Charlie, is a true laughter therapist!! With just a look, he can make you giggle till your sides hurt!

Now, only 10 months later, Tim’s tumor started growing aggressively and he must have another more extensive even more dangerous surgery to save his life. The tumor is growing close to the brain stem and the nuclei in his cerebellum, which control movement; breathing, talking, laughing, swallowing, facial and neck muscles, even walking and balance. The surgery is extremely high risk for death, coma, permanent or temporary disability.

The copays, deductibles, and uncovered expenses from the first surgery have put us thousands in debt. Because this second and unexpected major surgery occurs in less than a year, the challenge is much greater and the costs much higher. Tim risks losing his job and our insurance either now or after surgery even though he has never had a serious illness in 36 years before this!!

Any donation amount will help and is greatly appreciated. 100% of all donations will go toward uncovered medical expenses so Tim can concentrate on healing without the constant stress about finances.

The day we told Tim’s sister and mother about the second surgery, Tim made us all laugh instead of cry, with his funny unique “growing up in the Midwest stories.” He is the person who makes you laugh on the worst day of your life. Please help us keep more laughter in this world and help Charlie with his therapy for Tim. We know many can’t give, but remember your kind words, your thoughts and prayers and funny stories will mean a great deal too.

Please share this with all your family and friends so we can create a chain of laughter, smiles, and hope. From my heart to yours thank you very much for reading this.
