Time for Freckles to Go Home

Tax deductible
ABOUT FRECKLES:
Freckles is a hidden gem. As she gets to know you, she will open up to you and show you her big heart. Freckles has been at the Jersey Animal Coalition for over 3 years, and for those that know her it just breaks our heart. When she arrived at the shelter she was happy, carefree, and loved to play with other dogs; she has since become very nervous and startles easily. We have given Freckles a lot of attention, care and love, but the stress of a kennel, no matter how nice it is, can be harder on some dogs than others. With other dogs, she is very afraid of the lively ones, although she will behave well with calmer ones. Freckles was seen by a professional trainer who evaluated her as a special needs dog that needs to get out of the shelter and into a loving home ASAP. We believe that in a peaceful environment she will recover quickly from the stress of shelter life. Freckles is a very loving and affectionate dog with people she knows well, but can be nervous when meeting new people. In a home it would be better if there were no young children and if she is the only dog, however mellow dogs may be a really good fit for her so we would have to have a "meet and greet". She is about 5 years old, spayed and potty-trained. She is very loyal and intelligent with an eagerness to learn. She loves to play with her humans and any toys we give her.

WHERE YOUR MONEY WILL GO?
Based on several professional reviews of her behavior, it has been determined that what would be best for Freckles is to spend some time living with a professional trainer for approximately 30 "“ 60 days. One trainer said that Freckles has a lot of potential so we really believe she deserves this chance. Living with an experienced trainer will allow her to overcome stress from the kennel and learn how to be in a home again.

Any outstanding donation will go towards other expenses that may be incurred in finding her a home, such as medical expenses, any special equipment that might be needed, etc.  Any remaining money will be used for training of our other long term residents such as Bethel and Lickety Split.  These are dogs we have on our radar and we want to help them find their forever home too.

FOSTER NEEDS:
We are looking for anyone who is interested in giving Freckles a peaceful environment where she can naturally be herself and around positive people who will continue to support her after she graduates from her training. We promise she is a great roommate and will not borrow your clothes or shoes without asking. ;)

If you are interested please e-mail Beth Platner at: [email redacted]

Thank you.

WHAT SOME OF HER FRIENDS HAVE TO SAY:

"When I first saw her, I knew she was special: she really is just hungry for someone she can trust permanently and that really just breaks my heart. I had to introduce myself to her and let her come to me, but within an hour she instantly surrendered her love"

"Once she gets to know and trust you, you could not have a more loyal and loving companion."

"Once she realizes you are a friend and won't hurt her, she will give you a year's of love and kisses. Very active, loves to run and play tug with toys. Will need training, but walks well with a no pull harness. Knows "sit" and takes treats nicely on command. Low maintenance. Nice fenced in yard would be great."

"I just want to add that she is highly athletic. She really is impressive; she cashes in the fly quite high and precise, lots of fun to play with."
