Timber for Wolves

Tax deductible
Eagle Tail Mountain Wolf Sanctuary is the life work of Kelly Reed, a retired firefighter who has devoted the last twenty years of his life to these wolf dogs. Located in the desert just west of Phoenix, in Tonopah, AZ, this non-profit organization dedicates itself to these canines, many of whom have been abandoned, rescued, or taken in to avoid facing euthanasia, since sadly many municipalities consider all wolf dogs, regardless of their DNA, to be wild animals and a potential threat to public health.

In 2018, just as Kelly was about to step back from the day to day activity of the sanctuary, Plan B Foundation reached out to him for help with the High Desert Wolf Rescue. Eagle Tail Mountain was the only chance these dogs had to escape euthanasia, and like the true hero he is, Kelly came to the rescue, taking in every one of the remaining 42 dogs with support from Plan B.

Since then a few others have joined the pack and there are more than fifty animals on the property. monthly costs are around $3000 to maintain the sanctuary and on top of that the infrastructure of the 20-year old facility needs some renovation.  20 years in the brutal weather extremes of the desert takes its toll on wood and plumbing, from 12° lows in the winter to 120° highs in the summer.

We need $7,000 to renew all the timber frames and marine ply doors to each and every enclosure and replenish the shelters inside the enclosures which provide the animals with crucial shade from the desert sun.

We need a further $3000 to replace all the plumbing which has endured the same temperatures and is beyond further repair, cracked, welded and rewelded.  Technology 20 years on can provide better insulated materials to withstand these extremes and which will once again mean a watering system to provide the animals with water as well as the trees which again provide valuable shade.

We need your help today to repay Kelly for his heroic selflessness, to ensure these amazing animals have what they need physically, emotionally and psychologically to thrive, and to take the first steps toward a partnership with Kelly that will to create a lasting legacy for him, and a sanctuary and educational oasis we can all be proud of.

Help repay this hero’s selflessness and save the  wolf dogs he calls family and the sanctuary he calls home by making your gift today.
