Tim Moreira Medical Fund

Tim was a healthy adult in his early 40's when he was struck down in early October by a viral infection that settled in his heart. He has been in the hospital ever since.


While in the hospital Tim has had a difficult time. His heart has had such a reduced capacity to pump blood, that he stopped breathing and lost consciousness on two occasions. Shortly after these events, he was life flighted to Florida Hospital Orlando, and admitted into their advanced cardiac unit. 
The great doctors and medical team at Florida Hospital have determined that he is suffering from Systolic CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) and cardiomyopathy, a diagnosis that affect 1 in 2500 people. Tim's advanced case determined he needed treatment with a ventricular assist device, which was implanted two days before Thanksgiving. 

Doctors hope that this device will give his heart a break, and provide time for it to heal from the viral infection. If his heart is unable to heal over the next six months, Tim will probably need a heart transplant. 
Tim has great insurance, which is picking up most of the costs related to his treatment, but there are still vast out of pocket costs he urgently needs help with.
