Tim's Fund: Keep Sacramento Valley Mirror Alive!

Tim Crews, publisher, editor, photographer, delivery man and sales force for the Sacramento Valley Mirror, a paper he started in 1989, left this earthly plane for a newsroom in the sky on November 12th of this already intolerable year.

Tim was one of the last of the gonzo journalists. He went to jail for 5 days in 2000 rather than reveal a source and this determination to uphold the credibility of honorable journalists everywhere, gained him international attention and multiple awards.
According to his wife Donna, he often said that after he passed, he wanted his body shot out of a cannon over the Pacific ocean. While we can't get permission for the cannon (let us all just imagine it for a moment), we can do our best to keep his baby alive. He served his readership in Glenn County with the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. His motto, which appears at the mast of every edition is, "If we don't report it, who will?"
Tim was in the hospital for some weeks before he passed and his wife and other staff made sure that the Valley Mirror was delivered each week on deadline. Now that Tim is gone, his wife would like to continue Tim's mission to provide "A1 journalism" to a small community.
The average monthly expenses for the Mirror are around $10,000. That figure includes printing ($6,400) Payroll ($4,800) and another $600 for rent and utilities. Tim could have ended each month in the black, but he didn't believe in charging for obituaries. Think about that for a minute. He felt that memorializing your loved ones should be free of charge.
We are asking for two months of expenses so that Tim's widow and the rest of the Mirror staff can focus for now on just getting the paper out without worrying about the bills.
