Tierno is the sweetest baby I could have ever asked for. This week, I took him to the vet for what I thought was going to be a quick check in and a new script for anti-nausea meds. However, much to my surprise, he had been not eating for a lot longer than I realized. By the time of his appointment, his liver was already digesting itself because he had been starved for calories. He lost a total of 6lbs since his previous vet visit, leaving him grossly underweight.
Tierno spent 3 nights at the vet hospital being replenished with IV fluids and fed around the clock with a feeding tube. I am so grateful to have been able to bring him home today, even if it means learning how to care for his feeding tube and feeding him through it 4 times a day until he is back up to a healthy weight. Unfortunately his blood work didn't tell us more about why he went through all this, and I will be spending the next few months trying various different foods to help him gain weight. He will also need quite a few follow up visits and eventually another surgery to remove his feeding tube.
$875 will go towards his current bill for the hospitalization and initial procedures.
$250 will go towards his follow up visits and tube removal.
$50 will be allocated for various foods for him to try during this adjustment
$25 will be applied to the miscellaneous charges associated with this platform.
Tierno has been an amazing joy to me in the darkest of moments. He is the sweetest baby angel and is always so flirty with getting your attention. Watching him be this ill has been extremely difficult and incredibly heart breaking. He definitely didn't deserve this and I can't wait for him to be back to his playful, joyous self.
I know that funds are tight for everyone and I have been able to get the vet to work with me on paying the bill, however I have 4 weeks to try and cover his existing bill. Any support you could offer would be greatly appreciated while we attempt to heal from this stressful ordeal.
