Hi I am Ryan Fitzpatrick myself and my brother Mark Fitzpatrick are climbing the Welsh 3 Peaks (Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen-Y-Fan) for charity in 24hrs over the late bank holiday in May.
The charity we are raising funds for are Thrive Knowsley based in Huyton, Merseyside. Bit more about Thrive Knowsley below
The walking distance in this challenge is 17 miles. This is less than others challenges such as the Yorkshire 3 peaks but there is a gruelling total ascent of 2,334 metres.
Thrive Knowsley is a day centre / respite service which offers a bespoke service for young adults 18+ with learning disabilities and complex needs in a safe, secure environment.
Young adults will thrive within the service. We will provide activities and opportunities to keep them engaged, active, healthy and build their confidence and reach their potential and for the young adult to be a valued member of the community.
The services and activities we will offer include:
Horticulture
Daily life skills
Cookery
Arts & Crafts sessions
Volunteering
Swimming
Walking Group
Attending The Sensory Hive sensory group
Adapted cycling
We aim to provide a service which is meaningful and tailored to the individual, to prevent isolation and to enable them to form and keep friendships which is extremely difficult once they leave full time education.
Thrive Knowsley will actively encourage young people to choose what is important to them. We will use PECS and for young people who have communication difficulties and actively engage with their parent carers to help shape the service that best meets their Young Adults needs.
Every donation will help, so thank you in advance for your contribution
