Hello, my name is Eddie Hughes and I am currently President of Thomond RFC. I hope this message finds you safe and well.
With the Covid 19 crisis we are living in very difficult times. As a club, we don’t have use of our clubhouse and bar and with our club lotto also out of action our two main revenue streams are closed and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. This leaves the club in a very difficult position as we are facing significant costs during the off-season.
We are fighting for our survival
We must replace the railings surrounding our pitch as they are in total disrepair and unfortunately beyond saving. Thankfully we have received 40% of the funding we need to replace the pitch railings from the Limerick City and County Council through its Social Intervention Fund, but we cannot draw down that money until we can prove that we can complete the works needed.
In addition, as we only have one pitch, which is subject to a lot of wear and tear, we will incur significant maintenance costs
That’s where you come in. We are setting up a Thomond RFC Go Fund Me Page, where you can make a donation. We are setting an initial target of 10,000 euro to replace the railings around the pitch, but the truth is to keep the club running we need much more. Every single donation no matter how small will make a difference and you will see a tangible return for your investment. That is what is unique about this appeal, we are not simply asking you for a donation, we are asking you to be part of the project and you can come down here in September when the works are being carried out, safe in the knowledge that you helped. You can stand back and say I was part of that.
So please let’s get started straight away, whether you’re in Melbourne or Moyross, we’re all in this together and I have faith and confidence in the extended Thomond community not only to meet this challenge head-on, but in true blue fashion to surpass it.
