Help Me Finish School

Donation protected
My name is Pahoran Marquez. I am a second-year student in the M.A in School Counseling Program at Gonzaga University. I am from Mexico and even though I was born and raised there, I came to United States to pursue my dream of get a quality education that would allow me to go back to my country and give to the community of my upbringing.

Being a student at Gonzaga has helped me to develop my potential and to be ready to serve others more intentionally. During my time at Gonzaga, I have been able to attend conferences and workshops, like the Washington School Counseling Association. Such experiences have motivated me think deeply about the importance of this profession, and to keep working hard toward my goals. In addition to this, I have had the opportunity to join the Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society for counselors. I am not only a member of this organization, I am also the school counseling representative for my cohort this year. This opportunity has helped me to develop new skills, learn from my professors in new ways, and make friends while serving others.

I strongly believe that humans are creators of change. Our capacity to influence other people’s lives is infinite. As a school counselor, I am committed to advocate for students—to help them discover their potential for growth and change. Even though I am not an experienced counselor, I have already seen how the small and simple things I do as an intern really do make a difference in the lives of those I serve. I love being with students experiencing different things in the classroom. I enjoy helping them recognize and become a better version of themselves. I know more than ever that this profession fits me perfectly!

Although my family and friends have helped me get where I am today, I need extra help to pay for my last semester of schooling. In spite of a very rigorous class schedule I have always worked to pay for my expenses such as rent, food, books etc., by tutoring high school students in Spanish, cleaning houses, catering events and doing many other odd jobs. But even with this, I have come up short. This is why I’ve decided to ask for help through this platform. I’m so grateful for your consideration. Please know that there is no small donation—every penny counts towards the culmination of a dream. With your help I will be able to finish what I started!

Thank YOU.
