Third Space Café Emergency Fund

Third Space is not just a coffee shop, not just a social enterprise, we are a community. Like many of you, I am sitting at home wondering how to process the complexity of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our lives have been disrupted and we are uncertain of what the future holds.
On March 13th, I consulted with the Board of Directors and staff team at Third Space and we made the difficult decision to close the café temporarily. We considered the demographics of people who make up the community at Third Space: vulnerable folks, tourists, professionals working on Queen St, and of course many regular faces who make Third Space a second home. Our mission is to provide a safe space for community building, and we can’t wait to return to normal business as soon as possible.
This crisis comes at a difficult time of year for many businesses in Niagara Falls. We depend on the influx of March break tourism and look forward to the summer months when sales are strongest. Since its launch in March 2018, Third Space Café has developed and grown its team through increasing sales revenues, catering, events, plus corporate and private sponsorship, grants, and loans. In 2019, our financial growth was healthily approaching sustainability and we approached 2020 with optimistic financial goals (and plans to increase job security). With this abrupt halt in sales, we are asking for community support to create an Emergency Fund to support our staff during time off and to cover minimal expenses to keep the café open and return to work as soon as possible.
Please consider supporting us during this time by 1) buying a gift card online to use when we're open, or 2) contribute directly to our emergency fund.
