Thinking Black: an interdisciplinary education

Thinking Black delivers Black centered interdisciplinary courses to young Black students!
Since 2017, we've provided the students with the opportunity to engage with culturally relevant material. We work to create a space where young people can discuss race, gender, class, and its many intersections, produce work and receive prizes for their efforts.
Founded by Black Oxford University graduates, we develop a variety of programs aimed at black students of different ages. We curate a syllabus, provide, lectures, workshops, mentorship, reading, resources, and prizes to our participants. All of our students are invited to Pembroke College, Oxford for an annual celebration and prize-giving day.
Some of our Programmes include:
- Essay Writing,
- Creative Writing,
- Public Speaking,
- Art History & Cultural Analysis
By integrating political science, philosophy, history, and life sciences, we hope to introduce Black students to the rich tradition of critical black thought and hope that it not only informs their academic work but provides an invaluable framing for the world around them.
Young people are a powerful creative force, and by assessing some of the socio-political conditions that have given rise to contemporary social issues, our student's responses will provide some of the tools to radically imagine the future.
We believe that young black people should be present and thriving in academic spaces. We hope to equip our students with the tools to both enter and disrupt these spaces.
Your donation will help us expand our programmes, so that we can offer more courses and reach more students. Thank you for helping us uplift black voices!
