If you're a carer, The Sitting Room is a place for you yo have some time out, to sit, and just 'breathe'.
Think of a day spa meets an airport club lounge. There's no cost and no expectation. Talk if you want. Just sit and think if you want. Just come and 'be'.
We want to care for carers, young, old or in between.
Our vision is to create a place for carers to breathe, sit, rest, be still, or be involved. A place that provides tangible stress relief for those that provide care.
Come, sit, talk or be quiet, let us make you a cuppa, put your feet up and put your cup of caring down.
Hi, my name is Kylie and my husband and I have 2 kids with ASD, one is non-verbal. I have searched for a place where I can go and not spend $5-$15 just because I need a break for an hour. A place where I don’t have to talk if I don’t want to, a place where nothing is required of me. I need a break a few times a week, just to breathe. Perhaps you do to? Or maybe you work with or personally know parents of kids with disabilities or with those who care for parents or siblings and a loved one with a disability. Caring is relentless and exhausting. In all my searching I couldn’t find anything like this.
We have a space/shed that is 15 x 8 meters and we need funds to convert it into The Sitting Room, think of a mix between a nice airport club lounge and a day spa. Come with us and help provide a break for those who care. I believe this is a way we can both support carers and impact those they are caring for in real and significant ways.
