Sisterhood Springbreak with a Cause

Donation protected
Since the beginning of 2015 eight trans women have been murdered. This is one example of the systematic transphobia our sisterhood hopes to push against.  In the last year young trans women of color (TWOC) in St Louis have started to organize and fight back against transphobia with the formation of a group we call "The Sisterhood" which is made up  of and led by young trans girls of colors to develop leadership of young TWOC and build power to create change.

This springbreak while off from school we are planning a trip to New Orleans to visit and learn from a FIERCE organization called BreakOUT, who work with young TWOC and other LGBT youth who are criminalized and vicitimized in their city. We hope to get out of this trip connections with other trans girls like us,  networks and relationships with other leaders we know can be the building blocks of power, we want to learn about their membership structure and how they organize to fight back. We want to get trained by BreakOUT on how to begin training our community back home on what we can do to Get Yr Rights, and we want have fun!

Often girls like us don't really know each other and it can feel really isolating at times. Funds will be used for basic needs like food, renting a van and a place to stay. Please support and invest in The Sisterhood as we grow and build leadership to stop the violence against our sisters.
