Save Our Childrens Home
Donation protected
We are a small Canadian grassroots NPO called LGCCA and we work primarily on La Gonave Island, Haiti. Along with a local Haitian organization ASHOG we support and operate a small home for children who would otherwise be destitute on the streets.
RENT IS DUE FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS!
We have been supporting the home since its initiation in 2014 and initially rented rooms for the children in a private home. Two years ago, thanks to the great response to a GFM campaign , we managed to rent a house just for the children and their nannies. It is in the town of Anse a Galets, and has a private yard which has been turned into a food garden. Also thanks to HaitiHelp of Scotland a new chicken coop was built and stocked with hens for additional food security.
We have some wonderful regular donors who help support the children for food, clothes, drinking water, and to pay the wonderful nannies. Every month is a struggle to cover costs as most children are only partially sponsored! We fund raise through baking, recycling, events, calendars and any other way we can possibly think of.
The children all attend school thanks to our School Sponsorship program.
RENT IS DUE FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS!
The rent is $4000 USD but the children badly need new mattresses, sheets, towels, furniture and storage for clothing, also we need to get a carpenter to build around the indoor solar wiring for the children's safety.
The garden has a wall but it needs security wire on top of the walls, such as rolls of barbed wire as are common in Haiti.
We decided to conservatively make a goal of $6500 USD which is approximately $8380 Canadian dollars. The rent alone is $5160 CAD.
We know there are many "asks" coming your way, we understand as we also get those "asks". But, if you are looking for a sure way your donation can directly help those in need, you have found it! Our volunteer group covers the costs of Paypal donations as far as possible through baking, recycling and personal donation. YOUR gift will go straight to the children.
