Therese's Breast Cancer Fight

July 24th of this year, my mom, Therese Delie (Geehan), shared with me, my fiancé, my brother, and his wife that she had been diagnosed with a very aggressive type of breast cancer: invasive ductal carcinoma, phase 3. I felt like someone came running at me and punched me right in the gut. We later learned that she tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation which was another devastating blow. How could this be happening?? To a woman who is always smiling, has a heart of gold and would give a stranger the shirt off her back, I kept thinking " THIS IS SO UNFAIR "!
After numerous appointments and consultations at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, she made the decision to undergo a double mastectomy 4 weeks ago. By the Grace of God it was not in her lymph nodes which means she won't be needing to do radiation. What a blessing!! She will however be starting 5 months of chemo next week and will have to undergo breast reconstruction surgery 6 months from now.
As you can imagine, the medical bills have been coming in from what seems like day one. Just when she even begins to wrap her head around even some of what is happening, she now is faced with financial worries that she doesn't need to add to her plate. Her medications, supplements, first surgery with another in the wings, appointment co-pays, her wig, vitamin C injections, lost wages, etc have proven to be extremely costly, especially for a woman who lives on a single income who is doing it all on her own. My mom is soooo amazing!!!
Therese is tough and is ready to KICK CANCER IN THE ASS and needs to remain focused in doing just that. To do that, I would sincerely appreciate your help. It feels so awkward asking others for monetary help but let's be honest, that is exactly what I'm going to do. Any donations received will support Therese in her cancer journey.
