Theresa’s Breast Cancer Treatment Expenses

Donation protected
I never thought I would ever find myself in a situation of needing to ask for financial help, and it is very difficult to ask, but could you please consider donating to my GoFundMe set up to help pay for my quickly mounting cancer treatment expenses? I have never been more afraid in all my life and it would be a HUGE relief off my mind to know the bills can get paid.

Something that I've never shared with anyone except my children and immediate family is that I have been medically disabled from working since 1994 and Social Security Disability became my sole source of income with Medicare my only source of health insurance. Because of these other medical issues, I have lived a nearly hermit life with facebook eventually becoming my window to the world. While many of you are people I met here on facebook, most of you are people I grew up with, worked with, or went to church with before my illness sent me into my hermit life. Five years ago, I moved to Lexington to be with my two children (Andrew and Amanda). In December I finally mustered up the courage and joined a small church here as a first step towards leaving my hermit life behind.

Then, just as my life was starting to expand beyond these apartment walls, my life was turned upside down on May 22nd as I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer: Stage 2b, high-grade, invasive, with the largest of the 2 tumors being very large at 6.5 cm. Because it is growing aggressively, the doctors have also worked fast and aggressively with a whirlwind of testings and appointments to get my high-dose chemotherapy treatment started within just 2 weeks of diagnosis. Triple Negative Breast Cancer means that the tumors do not respond to any of the female hormones, so there are fewer treatment options and chemotherapy and follow-up treatment cannot be as well-targeted.

Chemo will last 5-6 months, followed by a double mastectomy, and then possibly Radiation treatments. If this chemo fails, there aren’t many options left except for trying to get into a clinical trial for something called Immunotherapy. The surgeon is trying to shrink the tumors before surgery and also wants to see if my tumors will respond to chemo. As you might imagine, the out-of-pocket payments for all this treatment, doctor appointments, and testing is adding up fast and will only continue to grow.

So, I am asking for you to please consider helping me out by donating to my GoFundMe. No amount is too small. Everything is deeply appreciated and helpful.

Your prayers and positive thoughts have been holding me and my two children together and I would also appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers.
